In my life, I have met a lot of females who like to show their love and appreciation with food. In a way, it makes sense. The first female most people come into contact with is their mother. And mothers are known for showing their love by cooking and serving food to their families. So it is not hard to see why girls would grow up believing that the best way to a guy’s heart is through the stomach. Unfortunately, it does not always seem to work.
In general, males like to chase. They enjoy the process of trying to win over the affections of gal. So when you start showing a guy too much affection too soon into the courtship, you might actually be turning him off. Cooking for a guy is a sweet gesture—there is no doubt about that. However, it can cause the guy to feel as if he has already won you over. That can then easily lead to boredom for him.
Personally, I have never cooked for a boyfriend. However, I have had plenty of guys cook for me. Some of them have never even cooked before. They actually had to go out of their way to learn how to cook my favorite dishes in order to impress me.
The only romantic partner of mine to have actually been lucky enough to eat food cooked by me is my now husband. However, I did not start to cook for him until after he had already placed an engagement ring on my finger.
