Once upon a time, it was the manly thing for guys to work all day and provide for their wife and children.  Look, I'm all about equal opportunities and women making their own wages, but when did men stop feeling like they should be responsible?

Before I make anybody too angry, I'd like to say that not all men are lazy.  There are some very great men out there.  I can only think of a few, but maybe I just live in a bad area.  There are probably thousands of good guys in some other city in another state.  

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let me tell you a bit about my boyfriend.  My boyfriend is incredibly lazy.  Yes, I realize I shouldn't put up with this crap, but save the lecture for another day.

Anyway, my boyfriend hasn't paid his share of rent or electric in over 6 months.  Yes, he works full-time, but his parents encourage him to spend money on himself and his own bills, not our shared expenses. Yes, you read that right: his parents know he doesn't pay bills, and they encourage this lazy, irresponsible behavior.  It makes me sick.

Oh, and did I mention that I have 2 children, one of which is his?  I have purchased 95% (and really, I'm being generous - it's probably closer to 99%) of my son's formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, and bath soap.  My boyfriend is too busy taking expensive cruises and paying off credit cards to help.

And you know what kills me?  I'm not the only woman going through this right now.  My daughter's father is now married and has another child by his wife.  She pays all the bills while he goes out and drinks and gambles and whatever else he feels like doing.  

Then there's my friend - we'll call her Shay.  Shay finally kicked her boyfriend out 4 years later after realizing he was never going to help with rent.  I have another friend who is marrying a guy who refuses to get a job - like just straight up refuses and doesn't want to.  I know several girls who pay child support for their husband or boyfriend's children from previous relationships.

I could go on forever, but I just have to know: When did men get so lazy?  And why are we, as women, letting them take advantage of us?  Actually, I'm finally putting a stop to my boyfriend's mooching ways.  Hey sweetie, you know that shared phone bill we have?  The one you haven't paid in forever?  I just removed myself from it.  Enjoy your disconnection notice.
